Unity Glass Ceremony

Unity Ceremonies symbolize the intertwining of two unique individuals into a partnership, a blending of lives, families, and friends into a joined union. There are many versions of this, but one unique way is through the medium of glass.

Fused glass sculptures like the one pictured can be achieved by combining different beads or bits of colored glass together as part of the ceremony. Similar to a sand ceremony in which each participant pours their own chosen color of sand into a clear bottle or vase, the glass ceremony takes it another step by then fusing the colored glass together, preserving its beauty in form.

It’s a beautiful testament to the unique individuals coming together in a marriage, a veritable rainbow of personalities in blended families. These ceremonies can be a very healing way for children to participate.

In ceremony you might hear the celebrant say:

Together you are creating a new life through the blending of your personalities, hopes, and dreams. You are creating something unique to just the two of you. In the coming days, the colorfully mixed pieces of glass will be made into a one-of-a-kind glass sculpture that is as special and unique as your relationship. This new sculpture will forever hold the promises made here today. Displayed in your home, it will be a physical reminder of your love and commitment to each other, never to be separated again, so may your marriage be. As with your marriage…. this vase will require great care. Cherish it, polish it, protect it from any harm. Keep from it that which can break it, or chip away at it, and it will remain a thing of beauty.

We are working exclusively with Dakota Glass Works in Wardensville West Va. to build a creative assortment of ceremonial glassware and fused ceremonial sculptures.

As with all the ceremonial objects, gifts and accessories we carry in our Boutique, we want to help you find just the right touch for your wedding. Some, like the Unity Glass Ceremony require some advanced planning. Others, like personalized objects and gifts, may need a month or more to prepare.
